HomeSite Insight® The Home Inspector Directory | Inspectors in US / USA, and Canada
Home Inspections: Still the best value in the real estate industry.
While the prices of homes and the availability of mortgages have fluctuated wildly within the past decade, the value of home inspections has remained a solidly reliable and affordable investment. Without the helpful expertise of licensed (if state applicable) and trained home inspectors, home sellers would have much too little guidance when negotiating repair allowances, and buyers would likewise be in the dark regarding the condition of their dream home purchase. All those involved in the real estate transaction benefit from a professional home inspectors expertise.
The most common type of buyer-ordered inspection is the limited visual inspection, which takes approximately two to four hours to complete, depending upon the overall condition of the house, its size, and its age. This type of inspection generally costs between $250 and $800, depending on the size and nature of the structure. The inspector looks at the various components and systems in the home such as the appliances, electrical outlets, heating and air conditioning units, and the roof and foundation.
When selecting an inspector, you should always choose a home inspector who is compliant with state listed regulations, be sure the inspector is well-trained and educated, experienced, and insured. Ask to see a sample of the home inspection report - after all this is what you are paying $250 to $800 for, you can tell much from an inspectors report.
At HomeSiteInsight.com, homebuyers, home sellers and real estate professionals are provided with a directory of important useful information, so they may choose the right inspector for their inspection service needs. Search at Find An Inspector.
Choose a home inspector who is a member of at least one of the following professional home inspection organizations: International Association of Certified Home Inspectors [InterNACHI], America Society of Home Inspectors [ASHI], National Association of Home Inspectors [NAHI], California Real Estate Inspector Association [CREIA] and in Canada, Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors [CAHPI]. These organizations promote ongoing education and define a standard of ethics for their members.
